A Greyhawk – Ghost of Saltmarsh campaign

Beyond the Marsh is a D&D campaign based of The Ghosts of Saltmarsh set in the World of Greyhawk like most of my campaigns. The content will be either from official D&D content, bought 3rd party content, and homebrew. While I try as the DM to stick with canon and the official timeline, sometimes it doesn’t occur.

We start in the common year 597 (CY). The Children of Pomarj, known as CoP, made an agreement with King Kimbertos Skotti of Keoland that they would send help to deal with some problems in Saltmarsh. This agreement was made in 596 (CY) during the creation of the Confederation of Paragons in which multiple Kingdoms united to deal with the threats in the Pomarj once and for all.


The two lucky adventurers are an eager Paladin named Tholl and Rysha. Tholl is a half-orc who has a connection with the Renoresh, the Chief of a village to the west of the CoP keep and member of CoP council. The other adventurer is Rysha a half-elf assassin that is a part of the assassin’s guild run by Luna who is also a member of the council.


Upon arrival Eliander Firborn is the first to introduce himself to Tholl and Rysha and informs them they will be helping Keoland gain control of Saltmarsh from the Sea Princes (a slave trade and smuggling organization), Rysha appears to be quiet and taking everything in.

Later in the afternoon while meeting with the Saltmarsh Council ,they meet two adventurers named Ezra and Jasher. Jasher is a serious man and Ezra is kind of in-between wanting to be talkative, but also be a mystery. Both are mercenaries from a local mercenary guild. Ezra, Jasher, Rysha , and Tholl meet with the council of Saltmarsh which consist of Anders Solmor the youngest member of the council, Eda Oweland the senior member of the town council, Eliander Fireborn who fought for the Keoland royal army, Gellan Primewater a wealthy and fashionable man, and Manistrad Copperlocks the leader of the newly formed mining operation. They are told they are being hired as a group to investigate a haunted house that was once owned by an aged alchemist.

Traditionalists:

This faction relies on two council members for representation. Eda Oweland leads the faction and can count on Gellan Primewater to back her up.

Eda (Female Human Noble)-is the current senior member of the town council, as well as the owner of several large fishing boats.


Gellan Primewater
(Male Human Noble)-is a wealthy and highly fashionable gent. He loves to display his wealth and power.

Anders Solmor (Male Human Noble)-is young and unpredictable, but he has supported the traditionalists’ viewpoint on most issues. Young Anders recently inherited his family’s fleet of fishing boats after the untimely death of his mother, Petra.


Loyalists:

The loyalists consist of newcomers who arrived from the northern reaches of Keoland, loyal to King Kimbertos Skotti. They feel that the town should focus on becoming a useful asset to the crown and value the good of the kingdom before the good of the region. The town guard, the dwarves, and the local farmers are generally loyalists.

Eliander Fireborn (Male Human)-Fought in the royal army of Keoland. He is most recognized for thwarting the monsters from the Dreadwood away form settled land.

Manistrad Copperlocks (Female Dwarf) -The leader of the newly established mining operation in Saltmarsh is an iron-willed dwarven woman named Manistrad. She runs the mining outfit from a small office near the edge of town. Manistrad is a competent leader, as well as a savvy miner with a knack for pulling off impossible jobs.
